Porcelain Rocket Bags

I have had these bags now for over a year so thought id share an insight into what its been like living with them.

Firstly they are handmade in America by a very busy guy called Scott. He spends years beavering away in his creation den and creates all sorts of custom bags. You get to chose shape, colour, size, stitching’s and any other additions you think you could need.

Mine are just the standard El gilberto frame pack, booster rocket seat pack, Anything cage bags and a mission control handlebar set up.

Ive always traveled with the kitchen sink. Four panniers, bar bag and tent on the rack so for my latest mountain bike trip this set up definitely wouldn’t of worked. It would of been far to cumbersome. I wanted something light ( for the flight and climbs), small so i could nip around obstacles and with the least breakable parts. This led me to PR.

I had to be a lot stronger when it came to packing. But it was more than worth it. Luckily with Australia as the destination my clothing and camping kit could be quite sparse than in Europe. On a test load the only problems i encountered were the cable routing on the handlebars but after a few minutes it was perfect.

The kit performed perfectly throughout the trip. No failures of any sort. Not even a loose thread anywhere to be seen after 3 months on the road. They are a quality product. There are a few cheaper alternatives. But i know now that this kit is going to last me a very long time. Like they say buy once.

If you are in the market for a storage solution on your bike whether its to take on the great divide or a custom laptop holder. You cant go far wrong with dropping Scott an email or checking out some of his designs on his webpage http://www.porcelainrocket.com and taking a browse through his Flickr page.
