About Me

Well where to start?

I am Jason from a small town in North Devon England. For the last ten or so years cycling has been a keen hobby. I have always rode for as long as I can remember. A book by an author Josie Dew made me think of touring and I headed on my first small trip. From there I built a few touring bikes, got hooked on Surly’s and headed out on more trips. I am always looking for new kit to try, use and adapt to make my bikes and trips more enjoyable. And the fact that I like tinkering.

As my posts have been getting fewer and further between I have decided to expand the blog to cover all of my intrests and travels. This will fit  in easier with where I am in life at the moment.  So aswell  as trip y bike you may also see bits on my travels by landrover nd the building of mmy tiny camper. pls bits and piecces fromother methods of travelling.

Hope you enjoy

  1. Hi I want to know whether you have done any bike packing with your surly pacer? 2-3 days trip kind of thing. Can we set a rack and pannier with pacer? How big is the tyre I can use? 32c? many thanks. From Singapore

    1. Yes i have done a 800mile trip using a tubus fly rear rack and two small ortlieb panniers. This worked well and gave me more than enough space. My latest trip was a week using a bikepacking saddle bag and ortlieb handlebar bag. This set up was a lot lighter but very limiting on what i could carry. Tyre wise i run 700×25 schwalbe one tyres and sks Full guards. Im sure you could run 32c tyres but as it rains a lot here i like having mudguards
