Surly Nice racks and light mounting

Just a quicky.

Ive noticed a few people online have had some difficulty’s neatly mounting there lights on the Surly Nice racks so I thought I would share how Ive mounted mine as it works ok and looks right(ish).

The front was easy I just took the original Busch & Muller bracket and reversed it. It fits pretty much perfectly on the front set slightly back so you don’t smash it of anything. It also allows you to still use the top platform which you couldn’t if you had tried to use the fork mounting. I also added a few little extras. There is an extended section to the front mudguard made from an old mudguard. This keeps the road dirt from covering the light and connections. The wiring for the rear dynamo light and the USB charger also run along the edge of the mudguards. The wiring for the hub runs done the rack on the other side protected by spiral cable wrap.

(Just about to test the new Busch & Muller luxos u. Usb light. Review soon)

The rear Led light is mounted to the rack via a rack top cat eye mount attached to a brompton light bracket. Again this fits perfectly. I got the bracket from SJS cycles in the UK. I believe its only a couple of pounds.  You can mount it in i few methods. I have chose to space mine back. This way it cannot be damaged by things as its tucked away. Also it cannot be removed so i do not worry about it when its chained up in town.
